Position: Production Manager (Agricultural Sector)

Location of business: QLD 4341. The Successful Candidate is expected to travel to the Company Farms in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Salary: $100,000 to $150,000 per annum

Our client is a large family owned horticultural business, specialising in the growing, packing and marketing of fresh produce for domestic and export markets. Operating from farms across Eastern Australia, they are a leading grower in the Australian market, where they believe “Natural Perfection” is delivered through “Healthy Soil, Healthy Plants and Healthy People”. The Production Manager will be responsible for co ordinating, controlling, directing, organising and planning the manufacturing activities of the farming company including physical and human resources.

Position Details

The purpose of the position is to assist in the development of the business’ growing and operational excellence by building operations capability to identify and implement Packhouse line performance improvement opportunities. The role influences leadership, people, assets and systems within the farming Company through focused support of Regional Operations Managers, Functional Leads and their respective Teams.

The role is critical in ensuring enhanced supply chain and cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives with the key responsibilities including:

• Planning and organising production schedules

• Assessing project and resource requirements

• Estimating, negotiating and agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and managers

• Ensuring that health and safety regulations are met

• Determining quality control standards

• Overseeing production processes

• Re-negotiating timescales or schedules as necessary

• Selecting, ordering and purchasing materials

• Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment

• Liaising with buyers and marketing and sales staff

• Supervising the work of junior staff

• Organising relevant training sessions

The successful applicant will be required to travel across all of our farms and may be required to spend large amounts of time (up to 3 months) on any, of all, of them located at:

• Bowen, North Queensland

• Mulgowie, South East Queensland

• Glenn Innes, Northern NSW

• Boisdale, Southern Victoria

To be successful in the position you will have:

§  Five (5) + years’ experience working in a food manufacturing environment (agricultural crop conversion/ scheduling experience will be highly regarded) in an equivalent or Production Manager development position;

§  Tertiary qualification in any of the following (or a related discipline);

§  Manufacturing

§  Engineering

§  Business

§  Sound knowledge of Safety and Environmental Standards;

§  Good working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP);

§  Sound knowledge of quality systems (e.g. HACCAP, GMP);

§  Confident, hardworking team player with excellent organisation, technical, and leadership skills;

§  Ability to handle multiple priorities, manage projects and deadlines;

§  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment;

§  High levels of initiative and the ability to apply discretion and judgment to problem solve;

§  Process driven with a commitment for continuous improvement;

§  Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy;

§  Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; and

§  Positive, practical and persistent.

Salary will be circa $100K - $150,000 TRP and will be negotiated with the successful applicant
